The South Gulf Umpires Association was formed in the 1970’s and incorporated in 1990 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to provide baseball officials to the High Schools of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Charlotte Counties. Over the years, we have become recognized as one of the top group of officials in the state as we have sent many umpiring crews to the State Baseball Championship series.
Through the great efforts of our training coordinators, our members are kept abreast of rules changes, on-field mechanics, and anything else that improves umpiring skills. We strive to succeed and to provide the High Schools with the most competent umpires available.
We also give back to the community. Over the years our members have taken part in the Toys For Tots program, Umps Care Charity, Call For The Cure, and the Harry Chapin Food Drive. For the past 6 years our members have assisted the F.H.S.A.A. with the State semi-final and championship baseball games held in Fort Myers.
This site is a resource for men and women who love baseball and want to learn how to umpire (no experience necessary), or are new to the area and want to continue umpiring, or have been umpiring youth league games and want to take their umpiring skills to the next level. All that is needed is a desire to learn, as we will train you to reach your goal.
